FCA WINS TOURNAMENT IN A NAIL BITER

Written by FCA on January 17th, 2011

FCA CHAMPS2In a match up of the two undefeated teams going into Sunday, MCA and FCA match always looked to be a nail biter. MCA won the toss and chose to bat. MCA were all out for a very respectable total of 186. FCA with a depleted side due to injuries, FCA got a limited Ryan Ramarine back for the final day out necessity to make up the 11.
Taylor and Sadick opened for FCA. Off a bad bounce Taylor got out for 51 and Sadick went next, out for 42. With the departure of the top order, FCA batting order was always going to be fragile. All way down to #9 was injured USACA U19 prospect Ryan Ramnarine , coming in one handed. Down to the last wicket, 14 years old Avinash Pritipaul at #11 dug in and held his composure to complete the last over of star bowler of the tournament Kishen Patel. Ryan, back on strike, had no wrist movement to the offside had earlier sweeped and pulled for two 4′s one handed was a sign of his limitations. Facing in what would be a penultimate over, he got a ball on middle and leg, went for pulled shot and powered it for 6 to win the game for the FCA. Pics to follow.

Finals Scorecard: Florida Cricket Academy defeated Michigan Cricket Academy by one wicket.

SER Players Hurt in Florida Car Accident

Written by FCA on December 31st, 2010

Of great concern at this time is the condition of three of the South East Region’s players Ryan Ramnarine, Zachary Sattaur and Steven Taylor, along with Ryan’s sister Neisha and their father Wayne Ramnarine, who were all hurt when the vehicle in which they were traveling from Ft. Lauderdale’s airport, following their flight cancellation, ran off the I95 turning over several times in the process.

Recent reports from the region’s Secretary Ivor Henry confirmed that Wayne Ramnarine and USA national player Steven Taylor were released from Hollywood Memorial Hospital with minor scrapes and bruises. Remaining hospitalized were Zachary with a broken bone, which is causing pressure to his spine, Ryan with a deep gash on his hand, and the most seriously hurt the driver 20-year old Neisha Ramnarine who is in Intensive Care with multiple fractures. Ryan Ramnarine is expected to be released later today from the hospital.

Our collective thoughts and prayers are with the injured youths and their families. We hope everyone has a full and speedy recovery.
